I don't know how CROSS of IRON failed to make my earlier list . . . I guess including Caligula on a dare knocked this epic off the list . . . Sam Peckinpah's masterful depiction of hellish World War II combat on the Russian Front - seen from the German point of view - was the source of so many memorable lines. Leading the cowardly Prussian officer Hauptmann Stransky (Maximillian Schnell) into the final maelstrom of combat at the film's end, Unteroffizier Steiner (James Coburn) utters the immortal words, "Come with me, I will take you where the Iron Crosses grow . . . "

Vidya gets tattooed

Vidya Balan who received many negative comments for her fashion statement is all set to ink a new fashion formula. Tattooing body is an inspiration of western culture and many Bollywood stars have curved different designs on their body. Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan had inked tattoos on their body. Now joining the bandwagon is actress Vidya Balan.

Vidya had accepted that she is going to tattoo her body but not yet revealed whose name or what design she is going to opt for her body. Vidya is all set to shed her next door girl image and adopt new style statement. Today, she is making lots of news for her getting tipsy at a party in London, for hanging out with Apporva Lakia and her brewing romance with lonely soul Shahid Kapoor.

Very soon, she will be seen in Ken Ghosh’s Kismet Konnection with Shahid Kapoor. Presently, Vidya’s chemistry with South superstar Madhavan in Airtel ad is luring many filmmakers to cast them together in their films.

Gerald proposed Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra threw a heartwarming party in the honor of Scottish actor Gerald Butler. The party was unique in the sense that throughout the bash, the actor kept on proposing Priyanka with different style. The actor is so much impressed with the ravishing actress that he can’t hold his temptation to express his feeling. The guests enjoyed the scene with wide eyes and big smile but Priyanka felt little embarrass.

A close friend who was among the select guest list present on Thursday night said, “Of course the party was for Gerard who was completely besotted by Priyanka and kept proposing to her every half hour. It's become a standing joke rather a ‘kneeling’ joke between them. ‘Will you marry me?’ he knelt and said every half hour while she would burst into laughter. She’s clearly not interested on being Mrs Butler.”

The guest includes Sussane and Hrithik Roshan, Gauri and Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Imran Khan and Avantika, Farah Khan and Shrish Kunder, Mahip and Sanjay Kapoor, Meher Jessia and Arjun Rampal, Kangana Ranaut minus Adhyayan, and Farhan Akhtar, who came without his wife, but his friend and business partner Ritesh Sidhwani. Priyanka’s parents were also present at the perky party. Not present among the other invitees were Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji.

In his two days trip to India, visiting the Taj and meeting Priyanka was in Gerald's diary.

Vidya moves near Shahid

Touted as the girl near door, Vidya Balan seems unable to tolerate Shahid Kapur’s closeness to Priyanka Chopra and so she has purchased a new flat next to Shahid Kapur’s residence. It is already been reported that Shahid and Priyanka are neighbors and the duo shares relationship more than just friends.

It is intolerable on Vidya’s part that Shahid is spending more time with Piggy Chops, she is feeling left out. Shahid-Priyanka’s relationship is very much talked about in tinselville as they are very much spotted loitering in parks and seen spending quality time in Cafés, chatting over coffee. Shahid and Vidya’s relationship bloomed during the days of ‘Kismat Konnection’ but before it could flourish, it died out silently. Soon after Shahid started to shoot for ‘Kaminay’, his love train again came on the track.

According to reports, Shahid is more serious about Priyanka than Vidya as he is more romantically linked to Piggy Chops than Vidya. After he came nearer to Priyanka, he cut connection with her and now Vidya is trying to create a space in Shahid's heart by shifting her abode near him.

Sonam lost to Katrina

After the debacle of ‘Saawariya’ and ‘Delhi 6’, Sonam is in urgent need of a hit. As ill luck would have stuck, a suitable role went out of her hand at the eleventh hour and fell into serene beauty Katrina Kaif's lap. The film requires British accent and as Katrina Kaif is perfectly alllright for the role, Dibakar Bannerjee signed her.

"Anil Kapoor was very keen to have his daughter work with Dibakar. He even called the director home and showed him a show reel prepared for an international project. The director is also keen to work with Sonam but he sees her as the archetypal Indian beauty. That`s not what Dibakar`s new Imran-Abhay romance requires. The heroine must be partly firangi, so Katrina with her firangi accent is perfect for the part," said the source.

Firangi accent is an important requisite of the film and the script has been written keeping Katrina in mind. Daughter Sonam Kapoor and papa Anil Kapoor tried hard but failed to grab the role. Sonam even tried to acquire the role through his good friend and actor Abhay Deol but her trick did not work and ultimately she lost the role to Katrina.

Deepika and Priyanka are best friends

We mostly heard stories of actresses involve in cat-fights, jealousies and face-offs but what astounding to see these days that two beauties of Bollywood are gelling well and never fail to turn up at one another’s party however hectic their schedule may be. Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra’s friendship are very much prominent now-a-days and their brewing friendship comes into public notice.

A source informed, "Deepika was completely exhausted on April 30, having done an extensive photo-shoot for close to 10 hours, with looks spanning five decades; but Ranbir Kapoor and she still made it to Priyanka Chopra’s party for Hollywood hottie Gerard Butler."

At the party, Priyanka played the perfect host and mainly attended her new friend. When asked about Deepika, Priyanka can’t stop raving her, “She is a great girl. I have known her well even before Om Shanti Om released. “I truly like her”.

In fact, two months ago, when Ranbir and Deepika hosted a dinner party, Priyanka was the first to arrive.

THE PERFECT STORM

How's this for a movie angle on the news: Obama, Democrat House and Senate majorities, and the Liberalization of the Supreme Court = The Perfect Storm

Here's the movie angle:

A crew of fishermen struggle to support themselves and their families on a catch that gets progressively smaller. Their charismatic captain persuades the crew that everything will change, and he will deliver them a huge catch. They give him carte blanche, and throwing all caution to the wind he takes their boat far beyond where they have fished before. They catch loads of fish and revel like men who have just had a Federal Government bailout. Blinded by hope and greed, the crew does not realize just how perilous a position their captain has led them to. A massive storm gathers and a huge wave (debt payments, cap-and-trade vouchers, nationalized health care, Wall Street bailouts, etc.) hits their ship of state and the boat and the crew are wiped out. Despite a rescue effort, only a few pieces of wreckage are ever recovered.
